² (Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) ³ So the sisters sent word^[a] to him, saying, “Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.” ⁴ And when he^[b] heard it,^[c] Jesus said, “This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, in order that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
